Cornerstone Crossing News

Dog Curbing | Kids Playing | Cars Speeding | Oh, my!!

Hi everyone,
Well we made it through another winter....if that was what you called it.  :)

Please courteous to your fellow neighbors and mind your pet
I've received complaints about stray dogs and "special deliveries" being left on lawns.  Please be courteous to control your pet and curb them when required.  Dogs (owned by Association Members) have been seen roaming the neighborhood and complaints have been sent to the Board regarding garbage being ripped open and digging in lawns/garden.  The animal control laws in Dover apply to our neighborhood despite us being "private".  Authorities will be contacted if enough complaints are registered.

With warm weather brings kids playing, and cars speeding!
The first groups of children are coming out to play.... and not a moment too soon!  We have always been lucky to have a safe neighborhood for children to play and not worry about traffic.  However, we still seem to have issues with cars speeding when entering and exiting the neighborhood.  The speed limit in Cornerstone Crossing is 10mph at all times.  Particular attention should be given to traffic on Cornerstone Dr. as this straightaway seems to invite acceleration.  Please remind your friends and neighbors to take it slow when driving in the neighborhood.
Also, as a reminder, the Association By-Laws clearly state that commercial vehicles are not allowed to be parked in the neighborhood.  Not only are they an eyesore, but will contribute to damaging our already worn roads.

Annual Meeting
The Board scheduling the 2012 Annual Meeting for June 5th.  Look for an official flyer to go out soon. On the agenda:
  • 2012-2013 Budget
  • City Sewer Update
  • Maintenance Needs
  • By-Laws Update
  • Board/Member Elections - All positions are up for election this year and At-Large members are welcome anytime.  If anyone is interested in serving in any capacity please contact a board member.

Summer BBQ + Neighborhood Cleanup
While not an annual activity, in years past we've had very good luck with arranging summer BBQ activities.  With so many new neighbors we thought that this year might be high time.  We're looking for volunteers to help arrange:
  • Grilling and BBQ'ing in the circle.
  • Tents, games for kids, music, other activities
  • End the day with a bonfire
  • Emmit Otter's Jugband for entertainment
Contact a Board Member if you're interested in assisting.

City Sewer Committee
As some of you know we have not been able to nail down a contractor for our City Sewer hookups (Phase 1 & 2).  Since so many have expressed interest in getting this done, I'm hoping that I and the Board can solicit help here.  I'd like to find an individual (or group) who can help reinvigorate this initiative and has basic knowledge/understanding of bid processes and solicitation.  There still exists a tremendous opportunity to move us off old septic infrastructure to shiny new City sewer.  This project would also bring new roads.  I'd like to see us make one last pitch in 2012.  If we cannot, money in our budget will have to be allocated to pump maintenance.
As always, please feel free to contact me or a Board Member with questions.
